Research Security
Federally-funded PIs, key personnel, and other individuals are required to complete research security training under National Security Presidential Memorandum-33 (NSPM-33) and the CHIPS and Science Act. To comply, individuals must complete all four modules of the MIT Research Security course, which addresses:
- Establishing and maintaining secure research practices at MIT
- Collaborating safely with peers, both domestic and international
- Federal regulations and Institute policies regarding research integrity and security
- Systems and services available at MIT to support a robust and secure global research ecosystem
Undue Foreign Influence
All researchers are encouraged to complete the course Undue Foreign Influence: Risks and Mitigations through the CITI Program (Touchstone required). The course covers:
- Undue foreign influence impacts and concerns for academia
- Reporting, research integrity, and effective practices to manage undue foreign influence risk
- Cybersecurity and compliance considerations for safeguarding research
- Nondiscrimination considerations when managing undue foreign influence
There are four modules, and each module can be completed in approximately 30 minutes or less.
