MIT faculty, staff or students should disclose an invention if they believe their research could be commercialized for public use and benefit. Disclosing an invention to the TLO provides a record of conception and forms a basis for future patenting or commercialization decisions.
Review MIT’s Intellectual Property Policy and promptly disclose inventions and proprietary information via MIT Technology Disclosure (available in the Research@MIT app). For more information, review the Technology Disclosure FAQs.
