Labs, Centers and Institutes

MIT conducts research and scholarship to advance knowledge and address issues critical to our community, the nation, and the world. The societal issues and research questions that drive this research are often highly interdisciplinary, and sometimes require organizational structures that transcend the domains of a field, department, school or even institution. To support researchers working beyond disciplinary and organizational boundaries, MIT has created a network of laboratories, centers, institutes, initiatives and programs.
