Federal sponsors may require PIs and key persons to certify their compliance with requirements established by NSPM-33, the CHIPS and Science Act, or other executive orders or memoranda. Requirements and procedures vary depending on role, sponsor, or award.
Some certifications are completed through MIT systems such as MyCOI-OPA+ or Atlas.
How often do I certify?
- Malign foreign talent recruitment program (MFTRP) certification: Individuals must certify annually that they do not participate in programs that aim to unethically or unlawfully acquire U.S. scientific-funded research or technology.
- Research Security Training (RST): Individuals must complete RST before routing a proposal, if they have not taken RST in the last twelve months.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) certification: For each project they lead subject to this certification, PIs (not key personnel) must certify at the time of award that they/their labs do not consider race/ethnicity in connection with various activities.
