Research Administration Coordinating Council (RACC)

Charge and Membership

To serve as advisory body to the Vice President for Research and the Vice President for Finance on all matters related to research and sponsored program administration:

  • On-going review of research and sponsored program administration policies, training, systems and business practices and processes in the context of changing funding and regulatory environments; identify opportunities for how RAS and VPF can offer services to the research community.
  • Assess impact of proposed changes affecting research administration – policies, systems and processes. Prioritize changes.
  • Work on key research administration and compliance issues.  Convene working groups and make recommendations for action by the business process owners.
  • Serve as a conduit for information exchange between central offices involved in research administration and the DLC research administration community.

Meeting Schedule:  Seven meetings per year

Membership:  15 members

Representative Assistant Deans from large research areas, Assistant Provosts from the Provost Office and the Office of the Vice President for Research, administrative area representatives: RAS, Office of VPF, HR, Audit; members with strong research administration experience and broad view.

Standing Committees of RACC

Research Administration Management Subgroup
To provide oversight of research administration, compliance and training issues. Advise the Vice President for Research and Vice President for Finance on how to address compliance issues and on policies and practices regarding the maintenance of research administration compliance.

  • Work with the DLCs and central offices in maintaining a strong compliance environment
  • Provide leadership and oversight in making sure that research administrators are properly informed and trained in research compliance issues.
  • Oversee RACC sponsored projects and efforts.
  • Provide regular monitoring of research administration metrics.  Review status of key compliance issues including but not limited to salary certification, cost transfers, cost sharing, service facility management, allocation issues, record keeping and retention, etc. 
  • Recommend to RACC the creation of working groups (sub-teams) to address research compliance issues.

Meeting Schedule:  Every month with special meetings as needed
