New export control review process for all purchase requisitions

The MIT Export Control team is now reviewing all purchase requisitions submitted in Buy-to-Pay (B2P), including from domestic suppliers. The review will ensure that all purchases (tangible items, certain software, technology, and services) comply with export control regulations. If there are any concerns, MIT Export Control will work with researchers on measures, such as a Technology Control Plan (TCP), so that the item(s) can be securely used at MIT.

To avoid delays in the purchasing process, researchers and/or their staff should:

  • Review Export Control information on Financial Transactions.
  • Get an Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) for all purchases.  To request the ECCN from the supplier/manufacturer, contact procurement@mit.edu for the appropriate form. The completed form must be submitted with the requisition in B2P.
  • Contact exportcontrolhelp@mit.edu with any questions or concerns, prior to submitting a purchase requisition in B2P.
