Protecting Inventions and Intellectual Property

MIT faculty, staff or students should disclose an invention if they believe their research could be commercialized for public use and benefit. Disclosing an invention to the TLO provides a record of conception and forms a basis for future patenting or commercialization decisions.

Review MIT’s Intellectual Property Policy and promptly disclose inventions and proprietary information via MIT Technology Disclosure (available in the Research@MIT app). For more information, review the Technology Disclosure FAQs
